Ghoulish Ways to Get up in the Morning

‘Morning Fab Bats! The crow just screeched saying it’s time for a rendition of an early bird post. Whether you’re a night owl or a wiggling worm, here’s some advice for you wake up grouches.

Get a spooky themed ringtone

Most of us wake with sound. I personally suggest Beetlejuice’s opening track so you know It’s Showtime!!

Some other suggestions:

  • The Addams Family
  • Ghostbusters
  • 60s Spiderman
  • You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • The Munsters
  • Gremlins
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Disney villain numbers work just as well! (Think of Scar’s Be Prepared or Ursula’s Poor Unfortunate Souls)

Getting dressed?

Scare yourself out of bed

Leave your phone away from bed and add a chilling ringtone from your favorite frightening feature.  There’s no pulling the covers over you then! How about the main themes from:

  • John Carpenter’s Halloween
  • Re-Animator
  • Get Out
  • The Ring
  • The Beyond
  • The Fog
  • Cape Fear
  • Cannibal Holocaust
  • Psycho
  • Friday the 13th
  • The Omen
  • The Exorcist
  • Coraline
  • Suspiria

Get ready to some sweet rocka-psychobilly songs

Get yourself one of those slick leopard print night-robes or a cute pair of ghostie PJays. You’ll feel fresh out of the 50s n 60s just munching on that Count Chocula while searching for that one black shirt you just have to wear today.

  • Archie King, He’s a Vampire
  • Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett – Monster Mash
  • Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – I Put a Spell on You
  • Ertha Kitt – I Want to Be Evil
  • Graveyard Rock, Tarantula Ghoul and Her Gravediggers
  • The Keytones – I Was a Teenage Monster
  • The Blob – Joe August
  • Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – Little Demon
  • Messer Chups – Inferno Image (Hyena Safari)
  • Spooks – Louis Armstrong
  • LaVern Baker – Voodoo Voodoo
  • Scotty Stuart – Nightmare
  • Bobby Bare – Vampira
  • The Castle Kings – You can get him Frankenstein
  • Attack of the Killer Tomatoes – Theme Song
  • The Revels – Foo Man Choo
  • The Boogie Woogie Man – The Brian Sisters
  • Transylvania Twist – Baron Daemon and the Vampires
  • The Cramps – Mean Machine

Prepare breakfast beforehand

Make a batch of easy overnight oats:

Paint yourself a nice jar in black (any mason jar or an empty Bonne Maman glass). You can decorate with water-based pens like Posca or apply decals.

Fill with 1 cup (200ml) of oats and 1 cup (200ml) of milk. Use non-dairy such as almond or soy milk for the lactose intolerant or vegan and let sit overnight. Spice it up with frozen berries, peanut butter, yoghurt, raisins, canned pumpkin. If you’re feeling x-tra sweet, try chocolate chips, Oreo’s, Petits Lu or Spéculoos.

Look forward to a good bowl of Count Chocula or Frankenberry (which you can get on Amazon).

Just keep hittin’ the snooze button
